Sandra Oh? More like, ooohhh Sandra.

sandraoh

On Friday, Sandra Oh was in Montreal to receive the Gascon-Thomas Award from the National Theatre School which she graduated from in 1993. The award celebrates a graduate’s contribution to the art of acting. Although she denied the Canadian University Press an exclusive interview, I did watch an on-camera interview she did with Radio-Canada TV (75% in French!). She was eloquent, elegant, and humble. It was refreshing to see such a genuine celebrity. She was very grateful when I congratulated her.

CBC Internship

cbc_logo

Today was my second day interning at the CBC in Montreal. The internship has me in English Radio, News, and Television News. As this is a blog about my j-school adventures, some self-indulgence is required! I was working on the 3-6 pm show Homerun, hosted by Bernard St. Laurent today. I was assigned to “chase” a story about Bill 101. I put in calls, read various stories, and wrote a script. I arranged a debate between Bernard Landry (former premier of Quebec, pro-French-only CEGEPs) and Julius Grey (human rights lawyer, anti-French-only CEGEPs). When it aired, it was a proud moment because I did most of the background work! Listen to the clip from Homerun here.
